You can use Cite While You Write to insert citations into a Microsoft Word document from either EndNote X9 or EndNote Web. After you have installed the Cite While You Write plugin, you can switch between EndNote X9 and EndNote Web by following these steps:

1. Open Microsoft Word

2. Go to the "EndNote X9" or "EndNote Web" tab (Only one of these will be viewable)

3. Select "Preferences".

4. From the EndNote Cite While You Write Preferences window go to the "Applications" Tab.

5. Select which version of Endnote you want from the "Application:" drop down.

Word will switch to the selected version of EndNote. There is no need to restart Word or EndNote.
